UES provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services for Prosper ISD’s $50 Million Children’s Health Stadium. The project included home and away bleachers with concessions and small buildings beneath, press box, 14,000 sf field house, scoreboard, football field, lift station, and 38,000 sf natatorium building.

 

CMT scope included site preparation, swells (stadium & natatorium), utilities, lime stabilization, lime series, piers, concrete testing, reinforcing steel, structural steel, mortar, and grout. The stadium can hold up to 10,000 people and houses the largest video board in a Texas high school stadium.

Southwestern Community College Performing Arts Center

Southwestern Community College Performing Arts Center

This 72,529 SF Performing Arts Center, located adjacent the new Wellness & Aquatics Complex at Southwestern Community College, features a 500-seat theater, a 151-seat black box theater, instructional facilities, and a music/dance studio.

UES was contracted as the Geotechnical Engineer of Record, and provided compliance inspection services including soils, shop and field weld inspections, masonry inspection, and reinforced concrete inspection. Upon completion, the $59 million project achieved LEED Silver certification.

The Pearl Medical Campus

The Pearl Medical Campus

Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, The Pear Medical Campus is a joint venture between Wake Forest University, Atrium Health, and Wexford Science and Technology. 

UES provided a 3D Subsurface Information Model (SIM) and Utility Engineering (SUE) of the construction. The SIM model followed general accordance with ASCE 38-22 and utilized several geophysical techniques including GPR, RF, TDEM, and FDEM. Additionally, a mobile laser scan was performed to help give the model some context. Construction Began in November 2022 with a value $1.5 billion.

UNC Chapel Hill McColl Building

UNC Chapel Hill McColl Building

Additions and renovations of the Kenan-Flagler Business School on the campus of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill are expected to be complete by 2026. Some of the features of the new building are new classrooms, which will double the teaching space and will have adaptable layouts for teaching styles, remote learning, and class size. The building will also feature a new entrance to the business school off Blythe Drive, new dining facilities, and dedicated art gallery space.

Putnam Edge High School

Putnam Edge High School

UES was contracted by Synergy Construction to perform limited asbestos sampling of materials scheduled to be disturbed by on-going renovations to the Putnam Edge High School building in Palatka, Florida. UES performed asbestos consulting services on a “Rush” basis to meet the contractor’s scheduling needs and to assist in the opening of the school for the fall session. UES mobilized an Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) certified asbestos inspector to the site, obtained the appropriate suspect samples for laboratory analysis, and delivered the samples to the laboratory the same day.

The laboratory completed the analysis of suspect samples by Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) on a rush three-hour turnaround time frame. The laboratory results were provided to the general contractor on-site the same day and construction decisions were able to be made in order to complete the project and open the school as scheduled. UES’ quick response to our client’s needs made this project a success.

This three-story building includes a 120-seat lecture hall, seven lecture classrooms (totaling 315 stations), three computer labs, lecture/lab support spaces, faculty offices, administrative offices, and ancillary support offices. 

UES was contracted to provide geotechnical and quality assurance inspection and testing services to the project, including those associated with reinforced concrete, masonry, field welding, epoxy anchors and bolting, NDE of welds, and fireproofing. Our laboratory provided all concrete and masonry compression testing and fireproofing density testing services for the project.

The 75,000 SF facility consists of the construction of modular elevator (PC 03-115980); site and utility improvements; Aquatic Center Building, including a wellness center, locker rooms, and gymnasium with indoor bleachers; and three swimming pools with outdoor bleachers.

UES was contracted as the Geotechnical Engineer of Record to provide compliance inspection services on this project, including soils, shop, and field weld inspections, masonry inspection, and reinforced concrete inspection. UES then managed special inspection and compaction testing services.

Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Sam Houston State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Conroe, Texas is a 216,000 square foot facility providing instructional spaces to support students’ first two years of pre-clinical instruction, research, academic programs, and student life. The instructional spaces include a teaching theater, large active learning classroom, case-cased learning team rooms, gross anatomy lab, and standardized patient and simulation suites.

Alpha Testing, a UES company was contracted by SHSU and coordinated with the entire design team to verify the needs of each discipline were met in the initial report. Alpha Testing provided geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the project, which was completed in 2019.

Rock Engineering and Testing Laboratory, a UES company provided geotechnical engineering services for the Del Mar College South Campus and is currently providing construction materials testing and inspection services for the campus.
