UES was retained by the client to conduct a subsurface study at a manufacturing facility in eastern Florida. The services provided were in conjunction with the installation of a new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for the facility. The scope of the project was to determine a groundwater flow direction beneath the subject property and installation of a permanent groundwater monitoring system. UES approached the project in two phases.

The first phase of the project included the installation of three groundwater piezometers in a triangular fashion around the WWTP in order to collect groundwater elevation data. Once completed, the groundwater elevation data was used to calculate the groundwater flow direction beneath the subject property. Phase Two of the project included the installation of a permanent monitoring well in the downgradient groundwater flow direction of the WWTP.

The permanent monitoring well will be used for future groundwater sampling events to evaluate the operation of the WWTP. UES employed our internal Sonic drilling equipment for this project in order to obtain a complete understanding of the subsurface geology and groundwater table beneath the subject property and to accurately place the piezometer and permanent monitoring well locations based upon site-specific characteristics.
