On May 3, 2017, UES issued a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) in compliance with ASTM E1527-13 for the subject property. The Phase I ESA site reconnaissance indicated the presence of numerous abandoned drums and containers, as well as evidence of agricultural pesticide use.

UES Recommended a Phase II ESA. On May 30, 2017, UES conducted a Phase II ESA at the subject property based on the observations noted in the Phase I ESA. Based on the findings, arsenic was identified at a concentration exceeding the Soil Cleanup Target Level (SCTL) for residential use properties set forth in Chapter 62-777, Florida Administrative Code, at the location of a greenhouse and a shed present on the central portion of the subject property.

Based on the Phase II ESA results, UES recommended that the unsuitable soil be removed and properly disposed of in accordance with State mandates. In October 2017, UES provided turn-key source removal remediation services. UES personnel demolished buildings, removed trees, and cleared obstacles for the excavation. UES excavated, loaded, transported, and properly disposed of 800 tons of unsuitable soil detected in the Phase II process.
